Village Hidden in the Leaves
History
The Village Hidden in the Leaves is one of the five great shinobi villages in the world, which was formed over 80 years ago by a scuffle of two clans, the Senju Clan, who had control over the Mokuton, or Wood element, and the Uchiha Clan, with their Sharingan Doujutsu technique. Back then, there were no Ninja village, but all of the clans fighting for themselves and fighting for the daimyou or their country to use them in missions against other countries, or to deal with criminals. The two aforementioned clans were the most powerful in the area, and were great enemies of one another. It is said that if one man hired the Senju Clan, the other side would simply hire the Uchiha Clan. This pattern continued until the leader of the Senju Clan, Hashirama Senju, offered a truce to end the quarreling and start something, and the Uchiha Clan Leader, Uchiha Madara, agreed, and the Leaf Village was born.
Uchiha and Senju alike worked to further the new Leaf Village, and other countries began to follow in it's footsteps and the ninja villages formed. However, tension arose in Konoha, as the balance of power was shifting, or so Uchiha Madara thought. Who was going to be the Hokage? In the end, Hashirama got the coveted position as the strongest ninja in the village, and became leader, which only infuriated Madara. Some time afterwards, the two engaged in battle between the border of the fire and rice field countries, which carved out the Valley of the End. Hashirama ultimately proved victorious in defeating Uchiha Madara and Madara fled, never being heard from again. Hashirama enjoyed good times and bad with his village, and soon, with passing on, passed his village to the Second Hokage, Tobirama Senju, a Water Ninjutsu expert, and wielder of the thunder sword. Tobirama trained and directed the boy who would become the Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi.
Hiruzen was considered a prodigy among ninja, strong even for a kage, and was considered the "god of ninja" during his prime. During his prime, he trained three ninja which would go on to become the legendary Sannin, or three. Jiraiya, the Toad Sage, Tsunade, the expert medical ninja, and Orochimaru, the man expected to become the fourth Hokage, before it was discovered he was studying forbidden jutsu and experiementing on human beings, Hiruzen's weakness and former compassion for his student allowed Orochimaru to escape alive, something that would come back for Hiruzen later in his life. Rather, an apprentice of the legendary Sannin Jiraiya, Minato Namikaze, was instead, chosen to succeed the Third Hokage, the father of Naruto Uzamaki.
However, not far into Minato's leadership, for some unexplained reason, the Nine Tailed Fox attacked the Hidden Leaf Village, but the ninja, to no avail, we able to stop the Kyuubi. However, the Fourth Hokage rose up to face the Nine Tailed Fox in mortal combat. Somewhere near the end of the battle, it became neccesary to end the battle once and for all, and so he used a technique, the ultimate sacrifice, and sealed the Nine Tailed fox spirit inside of his unborn son, Uzamaki Naruto. Though first outcast, he grew to face many ninja and challenges in his early lifetime as a ninja. Around the time of the Chuunin Exams, a coherent plot of Orochimaru came to destroy the Hidden Leaf Village.
Orochimaru killed the Fourth Kazekage in combat and decapitated him, and posed as him in order to lead his village into war, and ally with the Hidden Sound Village. Together, they led an attack against the Hidden Leaf Village, whcih proved unsuccessful, partly. Orochimaru, the Sannin, faced his sensei, The Third Hokage, in combat, and almost lost. However, age, and through forbidden jutsu, Orochimaru was able to beat the Third, but lost his arm in the process. Orochimaru had to retreat, and it was later found out about how Orochimaru cheated the Sand and they were firced to fully surrender, leaving both sides weakened and scarred, but still alive.
Afterwards, a relatively peaceful time of about two and a half years began, in which Konoha improved ties with it's other allies, like the Sand Village, and continued to enjoy good times, but when the sand's Kazekage was kidnapped, Konoha acted and managed to ultimately keep Gaara alive, but at the cost of a sand sibling, Chiyo's life. The Akatsuki became a major threat to the Hidden Leaf Village, more so Naruto than anything else. While many Akatsuki members have already lost their live's in battle, including Uchiha Itachi, a Konoha missing ninja, who was killed at the hands of his younger brother, Sasuke Uchiha. In a weakened state, the leader of Akatsuki, Pain, attacked the village and destroyed it single-handedly. However, the return of his target, Naruto, began a battle, one of which one will escape alive.
The Hidden Leaf Village is much more peaceful, and more forgiving than some of the other ninja villages in existence. Unlike other villages, the Kage's of the village are known to be much more kind to their village than other villages, like the Rock or Mist villages. Many ninja here have the "will of fire", or the want or need to protect their village and everyone in it. It has a high population of Shinobi, but in recent years, it's military has been weakened by the constant conflicts of the time.
